For the smooth functioning of the college, it has set up several committees to enlist support and participation of the faculty members and the administrative staff of the college. The college has signed MOU with out side agencies. The college promotes faculty members in their professional carrier development. The college has organized computerized accounting system. The college has established a new library building and a gymkhana during last two years. The college has maintained a computer lab with fully equipments with internet facility. The college management is constantly in touch with principal and provides guidance and financial assistance when needed. This way this college is an ideal example of good governance and management.
This institution was established in 1966. The main donor of this college is Mr. B.K. Parekh has a dream to establish a science college in rural area so that the students of villages could get a chance to study in science stream. So first of all Shri Kalyanaji Valji Parekh Science College had started. At the same time Matushri Triveniben Kalyanji Parekh Arts college had also started for those who are note eligible for the faculty of science. After that as per demand of time Smt. Gulabben Sushilkumar Parekh commerce college had started in 1978. Thus this college has three wings now a days – Faculty of science, faculty of arts and faculty of commerce.
The vision of the college was to provide qualitative higher education to the students coming from rural areas and disadvantage of section of the community. The mission of the college is to empower the students through providing them sufficient facilities of higher education and to make them self reliant after completing their graduation. More over the students can embib ethical values and cultural heritage, so vital in the knowledge based society of recent time. This would also enable them for their personality development and carrier building. To achieve this, the institution organizes curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The college has to adopt the syllabus prepared by Bhavnagar University and recommended by UGC. Generally the institution updates the curriculum after every three year as per the guideline of the university. Thus university and the college take care of global competence of the students. The subject combinations lend and inter disciplinary approach.
Looking towards increasing demand of higher education the college gives wide publicity in local news papers for admission in the college, after the announcement of the result of HSC examination. The admission process is well organized and transparent. The students’ weaker sections and particularly SC / ST / OBC categories are given priority in admission. Sports man, girls students and physically handicapped students are also given precedence. Slow learners are givan special attentions. The extra curricular activities like NSS. NCC, Cultura sports and athletics are organized by the college which helps to draw out tentiality of the students and help them emerge as responsible citizens democratic India.
A very well planned teaching and evaluation programs promote the students to put in hard work and due to personal care and guidance, the students outshine in the university examinations, get ranks and earn prizes. For the qualitative and meaningful teaching irrespective to each subject, the importance research activities of faculty members is well recognize and for the same the institution has set up a research committee in the college for the promotion of the research. For this purpose, the faculties are encouraged to participate the conferences, seminars, workshops and for all these, duty leave and TA / DA are provided them from the PTAC grant. About 25% of permanent teachers are Ph.D. and one is M.Phil. 30% of permanent teachers are registered as Ph.D. students and will complete their thesis within one or two years and will get Ph.D. degree.
From the starting of the college it has planned out its requirement and laid out its expansive infrastructure for conductive academic activities. These facilities are well utilized and are well maintained. The college gets UGC grants for the development programs. The management supports to fulfill the remaining financial needs of the college.
The socio economics profile of the college of the last two years reveals the increasing proportion of the students of the weaker section and the same of the girls students, which is a healthy sign,
